She abducted my baby, shaved her hair

A woman has landed in court over claims that she abducted a baby aged two months from another woman who hosted her in Kasarani. Belinda Indeche (pictured above) , 23, was accused of abducting the baby with the intent to steal her from the mother identified as V.M.M on October 14. Indeche, on the second count, was charged with stealing a mobile phone worth Sh34,000 from the baby’s mother on the same night. On a stated day, the baby’s mother was going home from work when she met Indeche, the accused person who told her that she was looking for a place to sleep. It is stated that she claimed her husband had thrown her out following an unresolved matter. A soft-hearted mother offered her a place to sleep that night in her rented house.

According to court details, the complainant woke up and discovered that the baby wasn’t sleeping beside her and thought that the infant had rolled down. After a brief search, her fears were confirmed upon learning that her phone was also missing alongside the baby thus suspecting Indeche. She reported the matter to the police who began their investigations leading to the arrest of the suspect.

At the time, it is stated that police found the baby in her (Indeche’s) house with the head having been shaved for unknown reasons. When she was arraigned, the accused denied the charges claiming that she was intoxicated when the alleged crime happened. She was granted a bond of Sh300,000 with no alternative bail. The case will be heard on May 28th, of next year.
